Heard a very interesting concept at the Charlotte Galzier clinic this weekend. The speaker said that in his offense the OL do not need to know the play, rather just the blocking scheme with that play. He said that one OL calls our the scheme for the rest of the OL, and they now just need to hear from the QB where the play is going. Does anyone do something like this. I feel like with 80% of an offense this would be feasible, but I feel like you would put yourself in some corners with a lack of flexibility? Thoughts?

If you put everything into families, and everyone knew that if its in X family, I do this, it might work. THEN, add other names into the family for when it changes. So if everyone knows that animals are one type of blocking scheme. But the playside OT knows that if he hears "Giraffe" he has to do something a little different. The other four guys just know that they don't have to pay attention to Giraffe, and they don't care what the OT does.
As long as you don't need an entire zoo for your offensive scheme, it could work. You might only need gap blocking and zone blocking families for run, and families for your different pass pro.
