What exactly does that mean? I was reading in the coaching resources section where it talked about defending the spread run. It said the defense is set to the back or running a back and I'm wondering what the means.
Thanks

Thanks Coach, with one back in the backfield and a shotgun formation, the back has to be off-set to one side or the other. ....................o....o........ .......o...........................o ...o.......o..o..x..o..o..........o So the back in this case is to the right, if you're setting strength to the back, strength would be to the right. You may also set strength opposite the back (that's more likely what our defense would do, anyway).

I have my 3-Tech on the backs side and 1-tech away. The Mike shifts them if he aligns away from strength, which is the TE. This defends mid-line pretty well by putting a guy in the gap they want to run before the ball is snapped.
