Who are the big winners and losers of the free agent signings so far? I think the Chiefs look great with Cassel and Vrabel. Cassel really capitalized on the opportunity when he got it. Around here the Skins aren't getting a lot of votes for what they've done. Awful lot of money for Haynesworth, someone who has a lot of questions surrounding him. Can't question his talent though!

1. Chiefs got away with murder for what they got Cassel with. If the Bucs had the #12 pick on the table in the three way trade (sending Cutler to Tampa, Cassel to Denver, and teh #12 pick to New England) I really am questioning why they would pass on that and take the 34th pick instead. 2. Haynesworth deal looks "eh" at first glance. But think about what it allows teh skins to do. 1st they now have sured up the weak spot in their defense (which has been in the top 5overall defenses the past few years) which is QB pressure. Not necessarily with Haynesworth, but if the opponent HAS to focus on Haynesworth that frees up the ends and blitzers. 2ndly it also now allows the Skins to focus Offense in the draft, this a OL heavy draft and there should be someone sitting at 13 (i think its 13) for the Skins to select. A lot of money thrown around but Synder loves to Show the Money! 3. I am scratching my head on the Canty signing in NY? How many more DL do they need? Is Osi Uneminyora not on pace with Rehab? 4. I think that two teams (acutally already mentioned) have made huge moves that are going rather quitely which people will be saying great pick up in 9 months. The Pats signing Fred Taylor could be that piece to push them back to elite ranks this season. The backs they have had the last couple years have been good, but to me Taylor is near-Hall of Fame player. The other two intriguing pickup were the signings of JJ Arrington & Corell Buckhalter. I think these two guys are going to thrive in the Denver offense...o wait they fired Shanan..hmm..dont know about this one as much

Yeah the Fred Taylor thing seems like it has been ignored. When I first saw the Buckhalter signing I thought it was perfect, then I realized the Broncos have changed. I do think the issue with Haynesworth is the amount of money, and Snyder couldn't care less.

Winners: 1. Giants They are 8 deep along the line an talented. They won't have to blitz as much because they will get to the qb with four. They also added a starting linebacker. 2. Chiefs Apparantly Scott Pioli has naked pictures of Bellicheck at an office xmas party because he got a major steal. Especially since other teams were offering a first rounder.
The losers: 1. Ray Lewis Has no leverage and will be accpeting a deal with the ravens well below what he tought he was going to get. 2. Redskins. For outbidding themselves for Haynesworth. Then cutting Jason Taylor today when he would have had a bounceback year facing one on one blocking all year. They also massively overpayed for Dockery and most experts said he was terrible last year. Nothing changes in Washington.

Here is the question with the Giants though, if they dont get plax back are they really a threat offensively? We saw what happened without him last year.
I would disagree with the Redskins (trying not to be a homer here) but cutting Taylor was the right move. He was overpaid and didnt come close to producing last year, I understand he had freak calf muscle injury with a blood pool in the back of his leg, but still had zero production, and I think if you can afford dropping the millions drop the millions, Synder has shown no regard for $$$$$ therefor prescedent is set...Synder wants something, he goes and gets it....kinda have to respect that...

I agree, getting rid of Jason Taylor was the right thing. And Ray Lewis really has been hung out, I don't know who his agent is but I heard a comment on the radio today that said it all: In the NFL, you get out too early rather than too late on a player. You can always get someone else young and cheap to do an at least adequate job.
